When will Christ return? There are many rumors of the second coming of Christ, but what does God’s word say? Yes, Jesus did say that no one will knows the exact day and time except for God the Father (Matt. 24:36); however, for those who are sons of light and not in darkness, this Day (His second coming) should NOT overtake them as a thief in the night (1 Thess. 5:2-4). The Scripture reveals three specific signs concerning Israel indicating Christ’s return is near; two have already been fulfilled.
1. The Restoration of Israel in 1948
In Matthew 24:32-33, Jesus prophesied that a sign of His soon return would be the restoration of the nation of Israel, the fig tree: “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near – at the doors!” History confirmed the miraculous event in 1948 when Israel’s sovereignty as a nation was restored after having been eliminated off the map for 1,878 years.
2. Conquest of East Jerusalem in 1967
Then the Lord Jesus prophesied that Jerusalem would be restored to Israel in Luke 21:24: “…and Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” The times of the Gentiles, beginning with King Nebuchadnezzar in 605 BC was fulfilled in 1967, during the Six-Day war, when Israel, being vastly outnumbered, not only defeated the Arabs, but also regained control of East Jerusalem which includes the ancient city and temple site. For the past 50 years, Israel has unsuccessfully been seeking to once again offer up animal sacrifices on the sacred temple site.
3. Peace Treaty in the Middle East – the Last Sign Concerning Israel
The 70-week prophecy in Daniel 9 prophesied concerning Christ’s 1st and 2nd coming (each week equivalent to 7 prophetic years). Daniel 9:27 says, “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering…” This verse prophesies that a peace treaty will be signed in the Middle East enabling Israel to begin animal sacrifices and offerings. This treaty starts the 70th week, the final seven years before Christ will descend to the earth establishing the heavenly kingdom of God.
Why is this sign so relevant today? Many American presidents have unsuccessfully attempted to bring peace to the region. However, since June 2015, one man was focused on achieving the ultimate peace deal. The American president, Trump, made it one of his top priorities to bring peace to the Middle East. He was unwavering in this pursuit of peace as he gained support in the region, culminating with the Abraham Accords. On September 15, 2020, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain were the first to sign the Abraham Accords. Sudan joined by signing on October 23, 2020, and then on December 10, 2020, Morocco became the 4th Arab country to sign the accords. More Arab countries are poised to sign pending the outcome of the American Presidential election.
God’s enemy, Satan, is also fast at work to do everything to stop him from achieving peace. Never has there been such opposition to an American president by both of the major parties, the legislative and judicial branches, the deep state government establishment, mainstream media, social media, Hollywood and the world. However, if this is God’s appointed time, no one will be able to prevent the covenant with many.
When the peace treaty is signed, there will be seven years until Christ’s second coming. In the middle of the seven years will be the great day of God’s wrath which is the opening of the 6th seal in Revelation 6:12-17. May it be a wake up call to all. That is why the believers must all be prepared.
